# A–Z

# Activity / activity instance

A recording unit on the Totum platform (for example a completed simulator session). Totum Video Library keys videos by activity instance.

# Assessment

In Totum Assess: the structured scores (and related answers) a reviewer records for one assignment, against a frozen framework snapshot.

# Assessor

In Totum Video Library: a peer selected for formal assessment via Totum Assess. Not the same as an informal Video Library Reviewer.

# Assignment

One reviewer’s responsibility on a case (accept / decline, score, submit) in Totum Assess.

# Blinding

Reviewers do not see the submitter’s identity while scoring in Totum Assess. Admins can still see unblinded case details and exports.

# Case

One surgical video submission under review in Totum Assess.

# Case registry

Admin screen in Totum Assess for programme-wide case oversight (across organisations), including retagging and clean-up tools.

# CME

Continuing Medical Education content (for example questionnaires) tied to some Totum platform activities, shown in Video Library when available.

# Connection (Social Connections)

A social link between two users on the Totum platform. Often required before informal invites in Video Library, and frequently required for formal assessor pickers.

# Framework

In Totum Forms: the overall assessment instrument (phases, steps, optional GRS, settings). Belongs to an organisation.

# Framework type

Classification such as OSATS, OSALS, or Custom, chosen when creating a framework.

# Global Rating Scale (GRS)

Optional holistic scoring items on a framework, separate from procedure-specific steps.

# Legacy auto-assign

Totum Assess mode where reviewers are drawn from a managed pool instead of being chosen by the surgeon at submit time. Enables the admin Reviewers pool page.

# Likert scale

A numeric rating scale with labels (and usually written score descriptors) for each score level.

# Organisation (group)

A group on the Totum platform such as a hospital, programme, or centre. Selected with the header organisation switcher. Scopes Forms frameworks and Assess case lists; also scopes Video Library assessor eligibility.

# Phase

An ordered group of steps inside a framework.

# Platform admin

A user with platform-level Forms powers (for example reviewing public Submissions and publishing with public visibility). Broader than an organisation admin.

# Published version

An immutable snapshot of a framework created when you Publish in Totum Forms. Totum Assess scores against these versions β€” not against live drafts.

# Reviewer (Assess)

Someone mapped or assigned to complete formal scoring in Totum Assess (My Assignments).

# Reviewer (Video Library, informal)

Someone invited in Totum Video Library to collaborate on a video with annotation privileges. Distinct from Assessor / Assess Reviewer.

# Score descriptors

Short written anchors for each score on a Likert step (what β€œ3” or β€œ5” should look like).

# Seat

A product licence assignment for a user in an organisation (for example Totum Video Library, Totum Forms, or Totum Assess Reviewer). Required in addition to signing in with your Totum account.

# Step

A single item in a framework phase β€” scored or data-entry (Likert, text, numeric, time, toggle, checklist, date, and similar).

# Submit for Assessment

Totum Video Library action that creates a Totum Assess case and assignments for selected Assessors.

# Submitter

The person who owns the video and requested formal assessment (often a surgeon or trainee).

# Visibility (Forms)

Private (organisation) vs Public (listed in the Forms library for others to browse and fork).

# Viewer (Video Library)

Invite role in Totum Video Library: can watch and comment; cannot draw / annotate.
